Black Brunch in Washington, DC: 10 Spots & Day Parties to Know (2026)

From jazz brunch on 15th St to Sunday day parties at The Wharf and on Connecticut Ave — 10 Black brunch spots in DC.

By Marcus Whitfield, DMV Correspondent

DC brunch runs on its own clock. Downtown and 15th St NW hold the sit-down classics, The Wharf brings the waterfront, and NE stretches out for the day parties. Connecticut Ave keeps the Sunday scene going late. Here are 10 Black-owned rooms and recurring series worth knowing — a guide, not a ranking.

Georgia Brown's — Downtown / 15th St NW

A long-running Sunday jazz brunch at 950 15th St NW, served 10am to 3:30pm. This is an iconic, Black-oriented spot for Southern and soul food. Come for the music and the tradition.

Kitchen + Kocktails — Downtown

A Black-owned soul food restaurant at 1300 I St NW with brunch every Saturday and Sunday. There's a live DJ working the room. Good soul food, and a set that keeps moving.

Milk & Honey — The Wharf

Weekend brunch at 676 Maine Ave SW, right on The Wharf. This Black-owned kitchen leans Southern — think chicken and waffles and mimosa towers. A solid waterfront pick.

Vortex Restaurant — Downtown

A Black-owned, three-level lounge at 1426 L St NW with weekly Sunday brunch and a day party. The kitchen runs East and West African and Caribbean food. Come hungry and stay for the party.

THRōW Social DC — NE

"Social Sundays" run weekly at 1401 Okie St NE — a Sunday brunch and day party in one. If you want brunch that rolls straight into the afternoon, this is your spot.

Lucky Bar DC — Connecticut Ave

"Lucky Sundays" at 1221 Connecticut Ave NW splits the day: brunch from 2 to 5pm, then a day party from 5 to 11pm. It's 21+. Come for one, stay for both.

The Strand DC — 5131 Baltimore Ave

"Brunch In Motion" is a Sunday brunch experience at 5131 Baltimore Ave. A recurring series worth putting on your Sunday rotation.

Decades DC — Connecticut Ave

A weekly Sunday day party at 1219 Connecticut Ave NW spinning Afrobeats, R&B, Hip-Hop, Amapiano, and Dancehall. They also run "ALLURE," an all-white brunch and day party. Come dressed for it.

Ciel Capitol Hill — NE

"SOLEIL" is a 30+ social day party at 175 L St NE, running 3 to 9pm. The sound is Hip-Hop, R&B, Dancehall, and Afrobeats. A grown-and-grown crowd on Capitol Hill.

Oohh's & Aahh's — Georgia Ave NW

A Black-owned soul food institution that started as a U Street carryout in 2003. Its full-service location at 5933 Georgia Ave NW does weekend brunch with bottomless mimosas — Southern plates, a full bar, and the same kitchen that landed on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."

Brunch in DC is as much about the room as the plate — jazz on 15th St, a rooftop set in NE, or a Sunday that stretches into the night on Connecticut Ave. Pick your pace.
