Tampa's Black brunch scene runs from historic Ybor City to the soul-food corridor along North Nebraska Ave, with day parties spinning up in West Tampa. Some of these are sit-down kitchens; some are closer to a daytime party with a DJ. Here are the spots worth knowing.
7th + Grove — Ybor City
Founded in 2019 by Tampa natives and open in the heart of Ybor at 1930 E 7th Ave, this Black-owned kitchen leans into Southern comfort and craft cocktails. Bottomless brunch runs weekends, with a menu built around oxtails and grits, catfish, and gouda grits. There's a lounge and live music, so it moves from meal to vibe as the afternoon goes.
Coasis Restaurant & Bar — North Tampa
Chef Melissa Gardner and partner Brandi Gergle run this upscale, music-forward spot at 7701 N Nebraska Ave. Weekend brunch (Saturday and Sunday) is the draw, with elevated plates like fried lobster and peach cobbler French toast. Expect a DJ and a party-leaning energy, closer to a daytime club than a quiet room. Reservations are smart, especially Sundays.
Madame Fortune Dessert + HiFi Parlour — Ybor City
A Black-owned speakeasy tucked inside Roast Deli + Bakery at 1930 E 7th Ave in Ybor. Weekend brunch here carries Southern and West Indian influence, from sweet potato pancakes with plantains to citrus-forward cocktails. It's an intimate, 21-and-up room with a fine-dining feel.
Table 22 — University Area
Off Busch Blvd at 4924 E Busch Blvd, this Black-owned spot is built around all-day brunch and R&B. The concept is a tribute to Black music icons, with the artwork and soundtrack to match. The name nods to 22nd Street, where the owners grew up and wanted to give back.
Mr. B's Southern Kitchen — Tampa Heights
A neighborhood soul-food kitchen at 3401 N Nebraska Ave. Mr. B's opens early and serves a Southern breakfast-and-brunch menu, with signatures like honey hot chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits. It's casual and no-frills, no alcohol, just the food.
RNB Brunch Tampa — West Tampa
A recurring brunch-and-R&B series that launched in 2025, held on W M.L.K. Jr Blvd in West Tampa. The format is brunch first, then it rolls into a dance party in the late afternoon. Dates rotate, so check ahead before you go.
A few things move fast in this scene: some spots relocate, and event series post new dates each month. When in doubt, check the venue's own page before you head out.
