Black Brunch in Chicago: 10 Spots & Day Parties to Know (2026)

From Bronzeville institutions to Hyde Park steakhouses and R&B day parties, here are 10 Black brunch spots to know in Chicago.

By Kendra Wells, Midwest Correspondent

Chicago's Black brunch scene runs deep, and most of it sits south of the Loop. Bronzeville is the heart of it — historic dining rooms and a winery pouring on Sundays. Hyde Park brings a steakhouse buffet, the West Loop turns up the DJ sets, and rooftop day parties keep the energy going into the evening. Here are 10 spots and series worth your Sunday.

Peach's — Bronzeville

A Bronzeville brunch institution from Cliff Rome, Black-owned and beloved. Come for the shrimp and grits and the signature coffee. If you only make one South Side brunch, this is a safe bet.

Norman's Bistro — Bronzeville area

Cajun-Creole cooking with live music every Sunday. It's a Black-owned staple at 1001 E 43rd St. Bring your appetite and stay for the band.

Bronzeville Winery — Bronzeville

A Black-owned winery at 4420 S Cottage Grove Ave with Sunday brunch from 10am to 2:30pm. DJs spin while you eat — past sets have included BUSCRATES and DJ Ron Trent. Wine and vinyl, done right.

Truth Italian Restaurant — Bronzeville

Black-owned and open all day Sunday, 8am to 5pm, at 56 E Pershing Rd. The brunch menu leans into French toast and lemon pepper salmon. Plenty of runway to roll in whenever your morning starts.

Chemistry Chicago — Hyde Park

A Black-owned steakhouse in Hyde Park hosting a "LIT Sunday Brunch" buffet. DJ Illa and Malik Shabazz keep the room moving at 5121 S Harper Ave. Come hungry.

City Winery — West Loop

A 90s R&B brunch built around a DJ working the full Black R&B songbook of the decade. Head to 1200 W Randolph St for the soundtrack you grew up on. Nostalgia with a plate in front of you.

House of Blues Chicago — Downtown

The World Famous Gospel Brunch, with a gospel choir rooted in the South Side Black church tradition and a Southern buffet to match. Find it at 329 N Dearborn St. A Sunday morning that feels like church.

The Duplex — North Side

"Undefeated Sundays" is a weekly R&B brunch at 2833 N Sheffield Ave. Three hours of unlimited brunch, bottomless mimosas, and line dancing. Come ready to move.

The Hidden Gem — West Side

Billed as the "Chicago Official R&B Brunch and Day Party," this is a luxury R&B brunch and day party for Black professionals. It runs noon to 5pm, 21+, at 1612 W Division St. Dress for it.

Punch Bowl Social — West Loop

"Sunday Service" blends R&B and reggaeton with DJ Montana on the decks, celebrating Black and Latin music cultures. It's at 310 N Green St. Two scenes, one dance floor.

The move here is simple: start in Bronzeville, then chase the DJ set that fits your Sunday — a rooftop, a steakhouse buffet, or a gospel choir. And if you want the day to keep going, ROOF on theWit hosts "La Vie," an all-white Afrobeats rooftop day party from 2 to 8pm at 201 N State St, spinning Afrobeats, Amapiano, R&B, and Dancehall.
