By The BlackEvents.us Team, Editorial

Boston's Black brunch scene runs from the Seaport waterfront to Nubian Square, through the South End, Roxbury, and Dorchester. Some are sit-down soul-food institutions with decades of history. Others are day parties that turn a Sunday afternoon into a whole vibe. Here are 10 to know — restaurants and recurring series both.

Grace by Nia — Seaport

Boston's first Black-woman-owned supper club, opened by Nia Grace at 60 Seaport Blvd. The weekly Sunday Gospel & Soul Brunch runs 11am–4pm with live soul music. A real waterfront sit-down with a soundtrack.

Uptown Social — South End

A Black-owned soul-food restaurant at 604 Columbus Ave, also from Nia Grace, reviving the legacy of Darryl's Corner Bar. Come Sunday, it's a music-filled jazz brunch.

Slade's Bar & Grill — Lower Roxbury

A soul-food institution at 958 Tremont St, open since 1935 and once owned by Bill Russell. Sundays bring the full soul-food menu with an R&B and jazz DJ spinning through the room.

Suya Joint — Nubian Square, Roxbury

Nigerian cooking from James Beard-nominated Chef Cecilia Lizotte at 185 Dudley St. Weekend brunch means West African cuisine in the heart of Nubian Square.

Restaurante Cesaria — Dorchester

A longtime Cape Verdean restaurant at 266 Bowdoin St, named for Cesaria Evora and an anchor of Boston's Cape Verdean community. The Sunday family brunch is Cape Verdean through and through.

AfroCity — Seaport/downtown

Boston's self-described #1 Afrobeats brunch and day party, running Sundays with doors at 1pm. Rotating venues, a West African diaspora social scene, and a crowd that comes to move.

Brunch Noir — Seaport

LiteWork Events' upscale outdoor day party at The Rocks at Harbor Way, 125 Autumn Lane. Black-excellence brunch spotlighting Black fashion, food, and music. 21+.

Southern Comfort Day Party (#SoCoBoston) — venue TBA

LiteWork Events' signature day party built around Black-American culture, thrown with the Greater Boston Morehouse College Alumni Association. Venue announced per event — worth tracking.

Boss Up Brunch 30+ — Downtown

Boston Black Pride's rooftop brunch at Apex Rooftop, 150 State St, aimed at the 30+ QTBIPOC crowd. Buffet brunch, drinks, and a DJ up top.

AfroBeats N Brunch — Nubian Square

Daytime Afrobeats gatherings in Nubian Square, part of the Community Canvas Series. Afrobeat rhythms courtesy of DJ Ohh, paired with African cuisine.
