Snow Hill Games Juneteenth Celebration (Lawnside Historical Society)
Friday, June 5, 2026 · Virtual (Zoom) - hosted from Lawnside, Camden County, NJ · Camden, NJ
About this event
The Lawnside Historical Society hosts this virtual Juneteenth celebration honoring Snow Hill, the original 19th-century name for Lawnside, Camden County - the first incorporated independent African American municipality north of the Mason-Dixon Line. The program features local Black history trivia via Kahoot, interactive genealogy research showing participants how to trace where their family was during Juneteenth 1865, and storytelling about Lawnside's role as a Underground Railroad terminus and home to free Black families like that of Rev. Peter Mott. Anyone may watch for free; a $5 fee enters participants in the Kahoot trivia competition with prizes, and a $20 tier includes a set of Lawnside History Postcards. The program connects Juneteenth to Camden County's distinct legacy as a self-governed Black community founded by formerly enslaved people and abolitionists.
